July Is Point Blank Craft Beverage Division Month!

  • Google Calendar ICS

We set out to always have July as Point Blank Distribution Showcase Month. But as most everyone knows by now, Point Blank sold to Columbia Distributing back in April.

Part of this buyout, Columbia created what they are now calling the Point Blank Craft Beverage Division. A separate unit within Columbia that strictly focuses on the brands Point Blank carried for many years. And with that separate unit comes the same customer service, brand recognition and care that Point Blank had as their own distributorship.

Speaking to both Columbia and Point Blank ahead of time, we felt it was still honorable to recognize the efforts and hard work the former Point Blank team put into this industry and still showcase their brands and their representatives in a full monthlong showcase.

So therefore, July will remain Point Blank Showcase Month, just with a little name change is all.

So please join us and the team for the month of July as we showcase everything that Point Blank carries/carried and pack this month full of awesome beer, great people and fun events!

Alesong: Meet The Matt, Greet The Cans!

You probably already know Alesong at this point. And when you think of them, you probably think of their expert barrel program of wild ales and barrel aged dark beers.

But check it out NOW! They are releasing their very first cans and they are... an IPA and a Pilsner? What?? YEP! Indeed! It seems like there isn't anything Alesong can't do. And just look at these cans! Goodness they are awesome!

Join us and Matt from Alesong next Wednesday for a very lucky sneak peek at these new beers on draft and in cans to-go!

We will be featuring both the IPA and the Pilsner on draft and we will have limited quantities of cans in the bottle shop so be sure to get yours quickly!

Matt will be in the shop and walking about sampling out the cans and some of his personal favorite barrel aged bottles as well.

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Alesong IPA - NW IPA with Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe

Alesong Pilsner - Crisp, floral and refreshing

MORE ABOUT ALESONG:

At Alesong, our approach is patient and artistic. 100% of our products are matured in barrels and then consciously blended to create a complex and unique beverage experience. Drawing inspiration from like-minded artisans across the globe, the goal is to create beers, wines, and ciders that are innovative and unique, yet approachable and balanced. And with flavors that range from tart and fruity to rich and malty, there's something for every palate.

We believe that beer is worthy of contemplation and reverence and hope to share that passion with you.

Wild and Sour Beers

Our wild and sour beers are fermented and matured primarily in neutral French oak former wine barrels with mixed cultures of saccharomyces, brettanomyces and lactobacillus, developing complex flavors over time. These beers range from yeast driven saisons and farmhouse ales to sour beers co-fermented with whole organic fruits like blueberries, peaches, nectarines and even wine grapes.

Spirits-Barrel-Aged Beers

Alesong’s extensive spirits barrel program provides a unique counterbalance to our wild and sour beers, with an emphasis on drawing flavors from the barrel’s prior life. Rich, malt-driven beers aged in bourbon barrels like our Rhino Suit imperial milk stout or Maestro barleywine make up the bulk of these beers, but we also love crafting small-batch, cocktail-inspired blends and other unique flavor combinations using unique barrels that formerly held tequila, gin, or even maple syrup.

Blending

Once the beer in the barrels tells us it's ready, we sample and select each barrel individually to blend. Paying homage to old-world Lambic blenders and artisan winemakers, we believe that the final blend of a barrel-aged beer is much more satisfying than simply the sum of its parts or each individual barrel by itself. As a barrel-focused brewery, the multitude of barrels in our cellar provides us with a rich variety of flavor profiles from which to craft each blend, much as a chef builds a cohesive and balanced dish using the ingredients in their kitchen.

Bottle Conditioning

The bulk of our farmhouse ales and sour beers are bottle conditioned - packaged still with additional yeast and sugar before undergoing a final fermentation in the bottle to create carbonation naturally.

MORE ABOUT DOUBLE MOUNTAIN:

"Double Mountain opened its doors on St. Patrick’s Day in 2007 with a simple goal: make great beer and pizza for the people of Hood River. Founders Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereux met while working at Full Sail Brewing, bonded over good beer and big ideas, and eventually built a place of their own- no fluff, just quality and authenticity.

By 2013, Matt took the reins and kept things rolling with the same stubborn dedication to great beer, good food, and strong community roots. Since then, we’ve opened two additional taprooms, fired up the kitchen at Portland’s Aladdin Theater, started growing and pressing our own fruit for cider, partnered with the OBRC to put our beer and cider into refillable bottles, and turned a 25,000 sq. ft. warehouse into a net-zero facility powered by solar panels."

Point Blank Craft Beverage Division Presents: The pFantastical pFriem!

You know them you love them, now come down and drink them! pFriem is coming to Belmont Station next week with one of the biggest draft line up's we have ever had! We teamed up with pFriem and Point Blank Craft Beverage Division and picked out some of our favorite beers to showcase next week. We have everything from award winning light lagers all the way to meticulously crafted wild ales and barrel aged specialties.

pFriem isn't just brings some amazing draft with them, they are hosting a raffle with prizes that include a pFriem branded Yeti cooler! Seriously, how COOL is that??

We hope to see you Wednesday! It's going to be pretty pFantastic!

MORE ABOUT PFRIEM:

"In 2011 Josh Pfriem was well on his path to becoming a master brewer, but that path veered dramatically the day he was introduced to Ken Whiteman and Rudy Kellner at a child’s birthday party. The three went on to form the brain trust that would eventually create pFriem.

They shared a deep love of family, the Columbia River Gorge and of course, great beer — but more importantly, each brought his own unique skill set to the table, creating the means and vision to not only make great beer, but to operate a great business. A year-and-a-half and hours of hard work later, the brewery opened its doors for the first time, and the three founders realized the beginning of their unique dream.

pFriem Family Brewers has since become a household name in the Pacific Northwest, but with rapid growth, came new business challenges and increased demand to bring more of the best possible beer in the world to beer lovers. The executive team needed a new partner with the skills and experience to take the helm of pFriem’s finances and steer it towards a glorious future. As fate would have it, Rudy Kellner had spent six years prior to pFriem working with just such a person. He knew that Sonya White’s skills and history of solid financial leadership made her an excellent choice, but it was their shared values and trust-based working relationship that sealed the deal.

If things do happen for a reason, then what better reason than to champion family, community and create one of the world’s best premium craft beers to be enjoyed by all who love them? We can’t think of one, so here’s to fate. Op uw gezondheid!"

Point Blank Craft Beverage Division Presents: A Night With Boneyard!

Boneyard is coming by this Friday for a special tap takeover thanks to Point Blank Craft Beverage Division! You all might remember our former bottle shop manager Brett? He will also be in house again as he currently is the sales rep for Boneyard! So come on down and have an amazing pint with us and Brett!

The draft list we picked out for this night is wild!
Boneyard knows their way around an IPA so we will be fully loaded with those. But they also make a whole line up of awesome beer that we cant wait to share with you all!

MORE ABOUT BONEYARD:

"NOT YOUR TYPICAL STORY

Most breweries start with a plan.

We started with some scrap metal (or what those larger breweries deemed as scrap). To us, with no balance in the bank account, we considered every chunk of scrap as gold.

Prior to churning out the first few batches in 2010, Tony amassed as much equipment as he could that other brewers had put out to pasture – all while he was consulting on brewhouse installations and projects around the world. Not that the equipment was bad, it was just no longer needed or did not fit in the new designs or installations these brewers were putting into service.

The quality of the equipment wasn’t where the importance lied, and still isn’t – it’s the quality of the beer you produce using that equipment.

Design/Cut/Weld/Fabricate was our means of making exactly what we needed to challenge any brewer in making some high quality liquids. We use a “unitank” style of brewing, which means the beer is never transferred, moved, beat up, or bruised in the process. A gentle transformation into a perfect beer without any of the complexities. And we’re still cranking away on the same equipment that we’ve kept in perfect running order, and made better over time.

“Clean, Balanced, Interesting” – Tony Lawrence"

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Boneyard Incredible Pulp - Pale ale

Boneyard RPM - IPA

Boneyard Litter Critters Lava Fuel - IPA

MORE ABOUT FIRESTONE WALKER:

"Born in a humble shed on the back-forty of the family vineyard, Firestone Walker is a California beer company like no other—founded by two brothers-in-law who simply wanted to make the perfect beer.

The story begins with Adam Firestone (a.k.a. The Bear) and David Walker (a.k.a. The Lion) debating the subject of beer. Their search for a decent local ale proved futile, and it wasn’t long before they had goaded themselves into brewing their own.

Their initial brewing efforts were made in a second-hand brewhouse with converted winemaking equipment—mostly with mixed results. But the hook was set when their first recipe for Double Barrel Ale was attempted."

MORE ABOUT 30th ANNIVERSARY ALE:

"Our 30th Anniversary Ale is an annual blend of barrel-aged strong ales selected by Barrel Program Manager Jordan Ziegler and blended in collaboration with local Paso Robles winemakers. The 2026 blend brings together Tønne Troll, Stickee Monkee, Velvet Merkin, Helldorado, DDBA, Bravo, and Parabola. Rich dark malt, coffee roast, caramel sweetness, layered oak, and bourbon character make this a true showcase beer."

MORE ABOUT HOPWORKS BREWERY:

"Hopworks is a family-owned B Corp brewery founded in Portland Oregon in 2007 by Christian and Brandie Ettinger.

As young entrepreneurs and parents to a toddler and newborn at the time, life was crazy and exciting to say the least, as we navigated our way through the ups and downs of building and operating a new, sustainably focused business. Our goal was simple: combine world-class beer and food together in a cool space and operate as sustainably as possible. We started with a single pub and 43 talented co-workers and have grown to 2 locations employing 80 people and distributing beer in 6 western states (OR, WA, ID, MT, CO and CA) and Japan. Now, fifteen years later, our kids are in high school, and Hopworks continues to brew the delicious beer that remains at the center of everything we do and we love to use its magical powers to gather and to support our community!

Hopworks is grateful for our community support over all the years, and we are more passionate than ever about beer and work hard every day to fulfill orders, exceed expectations, and have fun in the process.

The Hopworks vision was born when Christian worked in grocery store as a high school student and observed first-hand the excitement brewing around the burgeoning Portland brewing scene of the late 80’s. He attended University of Oregon Business School and after a sophomore semester studying in Cologne, Germany and a senior internship at Oregon Fields Brewery coupled with some homebrewing, and he knew he would open his own brewery someday.

After assistant and head brewing jobs at Eugene City Brewery he attended the American Brewers Guild in 1998. After graduating he helped open Old-World Pub and Brewery followed by Laurelwood Brewery where he was awarded 2004 World Beer Cup Champion Brewmaster. He set out on his own in 2006 when he and his father Roy began the enormous undertaking of building Hopworks in an old tractor showroom SE Portland."

Our good friends at Deschutes and Sierra Nevada are going to be here on Friday with a full draft line up featuring some classics and some brand new beers! Both breweries, along with the team from Columbia Distributing, will be in house answering any questions you might have.

These two classic breweries are very dear to our hearts and the amount of respect we all have for them for literally paving the way for Craft Beer is astronomically huge!

This isn't a revisit to some of the classic beers they make though. Both breweries continue to amaze with the ability to adapt and evolve. Creating some of the most stand out beers in the market even after all these years.

Come see for yourself why these legacy brands are still standing at the top and showing all craft breweries what its all about.

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Deschutes Collegio Cripsy - Italian pilsner

Deschutes Anytime Lemonade Shandy - Classic refreshing shandy

Deschutes Fresh Squeezed - IPA

Deschutes Black Butte Anniversary XXXVII - Tequila barrel aged imperial porter with orange peel, vanilla, milk sugar and chocolate

Sierra Nevada Pils - Pilsner

Sierra Nevada Pale - Classic pale ale

Sierra Nevada Summerfest - Summer lager

Sierra Nevada River Ride - IPA

MORE ABOUR DESCHUTES BREWING:

"It's pronounced Da-Shootz"

"In 1988, Gary Fish established a small brewpub in downtown Bend, Oregon and named it after the Deschutes River. He wanted to build a home for the public. A spot where friends, family, and neighbors would come together over a house-brewed pint of beer. After Gary opened The Deschutes Brewery and Public House, people started to arrive, hang out, taste our beer and food, and spread the word. In that first year, we sold 310 barrels of beer.

Today, things are a little different. The brewery sells more than 225,000 barrels per year and our beer can be found in all 50 states (and even a few other countries.) We’ve set up more locations and have a brewery and tasting room less than a mile across town in Bend and a second pub in downtown Portland, Oregon.

We might have gotten bigger, but our mission has stayed the same: Creating community over damn tasty beer."

MORE ABOUT SIERRA NEVADA BREWING:

"Back in 1980, American beer wasn’t known for quality. The industry had sunk to a low point since Prohibition with fewer than 100 breweries in operation. Most of them produced only light lagers.

But our founder, Ken Grossman, believed beer could be more—more flavorful, more distinctive. He was especially taken with the flavors of hops. A homebrewer since a young age, Ken was fascinated with the alchemy of fermentation, leading him to open The Home Brew Shop in Chico, CA. Here, he perfected his homebrew until his great passion could no longer be ignored.

He officially started Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in 1980 with a brewhouse he cobbled together from scrap dairy equipment. Ken prioritized quality, brewing a dozen batches of his signature Pale Ale, featuring the whole cone Cascade hops he loved. Finally satisfied, Ken lugged a cooler to every bar in Chico, selling Pale Ale one bottle at a time. As Ken recalls, “ninety percent of people hated it. But the people who loved it, loved it.”

Thanks to those hop lovers, Sierra Nevada grew. So did the craft beer industry. Today, there are thousands of craft brewers, and our beer is sold in all 50 states via breweries on both coasts. But as Sierra Nevada expanded, Ken continued to prioritize quality, opting to stay 100% family-owned and operated to ensure the beer—and the company—continued to meet his very high standards.

Thank you to all the craft beer lovers out there who’ve helped make Sierra Nevada, Sierra Nevada."

MORE ABOUT RUSSIAN RIVER:

"Russian River Brewing Company was founded by Korbel Champagne Cellars in Guerneville, CA, in 1997. Vinnie was hired as the brewery’s brewmaster and initially sole employee. For the next 6 years, Vinnie continued to set the bar high for super hoppy and Belgian-inspired beers. Pliny the Elder, first brewed at the Korbel location in 1999, was one of the first commercially brewed Double or Imperial IPAs in America and won numerous awards over the years. It is still our most popular beer more than 20 years later.

In 2003, Korbel decided to get out of the beer business and transferred the rights to the Russian River Brewing Company name, all beer names, and the recipes to Vinnie and his wife, Natalie. We wrote a business plan, found 2 managing partners, and convinced 30 friends and family to invest in their new brewpub venture. In April 2004, we opened the doors to the next chapter of Russian River Brewing under our ownership."

Mark, coming from a family of engineers, brings a unique perspective to the team. His skill in mechanizing and customizing allows us to transform our dream of crafting consistent, high-quality, and affordable ciders into a reality."

MORE ABOUT STARFALL CIDER:

"Starfall Cider Co. is shaped by a team of passionate pommeliers in the Pacific Northwest who live and breathe the craft of cider.

We know great cider starts with fresh-pressed apples, but true excellence lies in the details—precise fermentation and layered flavor that’s complex, balanced, and effortless to enjoy. That’s what sets us apart.

Premium craft cider, made approachable.

Grounded here, stellar anywhere."

Columbia Distributing Presents: Full Sail Tasting Featuring Session!

Full Sail Brewing will be in the bottle shop tasting out their new line of Session! You might all remember Session from years ago. The little stubby bottles, the Rock, Paper, Scissor game under the caps. The ONE flavor. But this is NEW Session. Three different new ones to be exact. In bright new cans and my goodness do these taste amazing!

Come on down the the bottle shop this Friday and see for yourself why we are so excited to have them on our shelves. While you are here, be sure to pop over to the bar for a pint or two of some very exclusive Full Sail draft option as well!

AVAILABLE TO TRY IN THE SHOP:

Session Classic - Classic session lager

Session Japanese Rice - Japanese style lager

Session West Coast - West Coast hoppy lager

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Full Sail Hop Pursuit - West Coast IPA

Full Sail Cherry Plum Belgian Blonde - Fruited Belgian blonde ale

MORE ABOUT FULL SAIL BREWING:

"The reason we started Full Sail in the first place was to build a company that was completely different from the ones where we’d previously worked. It wasn’t about business as usual. It was about finding our calling in life — about truly appreciating our “human resources,” and balancing work, life, family and friends in a way that makes life truly worth living.

So here we are. Ever humble, ever grateful, ever amazed that we got here in one piece. Still a mix of beer geeks and boardheads (not to mention mountain bikers, surfers, ultimate fanatics and powder hounds). Still independent. Still trying to find that perfect balance between art and commerce, work and play, inspiration and perspiration."

Columbia Distributing Presents: Georgetown & Migration Hang Sesh!

Our good friends at Georgetown and Migration are coming down for a little buddy hang sesh as part of Columbia Distributing Showcase month!

These two breweries have been friends for a long time and we love everything they do. We will be featuring a handful of draft options from both breweries as well as tons of cans to-go. Come on down, have a pint and hang with some buds.

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Georgetown Tavern Beer - Light lager

Georgetown Juniorzafa - An IPA like Bodi, but smaller

Georgetown Bodhizafa - IPA

Migration Molto Bene - Italian pilsner

Migration Dune Rider - IPA

Migration Full Send - Fruited sour ale

MORE ABOUR GEORGETOWN BREWING:

"Manny asked me to write up a history of the brewery for the website.

In general, I find history pieces really boring. It’s always the same kind of thing about how the founders loved beer so much, they decided to quit their boring insurance jobs where they couldn’t drink beer for a living, and dedicate their lives to brewing well crafted beers.

First of all, everyone loves beer. Even if you don’t, you know someone that does. Second, everyone hates their boring jobs and wishes they could drink beer for work. Third, no one sets out to intentionally make bad beer, even at Strangebrew in Port Townsend.

Instead, I wrote a really impassioned think piece about growlers, how the growth of our growler program mirrored the history of the company. It was really clever. Or brave. Or meta. I thought it was good. And I’m pretty sure I didn’t mention cats once.

But Manny wanted something more along the lines about how he and Roger met over their love of ultimate frisbee (aka, beer drinking) and wanted to start a business together because they hated working for The Man and they actually wanted to open up a cat food company. Just kidding, they wanted to start a brewery. Literally: they loved beer, quit an insurance job (that was Roger, Manny may or may not have been employed at the time) and wanted to make really good beer. You know, boring.

So, here’s the history of the brewery - two guys that liked beer a lot and hated working for other people came together to start a brewery. Between the time they brewed test batches of pale ales and purchased a 15 barrel system from a defunct brewery in North Carolina in 2002, to now when they support nearly 100 employees and are the largest independent brewery in Washington State, a lot has happened. How about you come down to the brewery and we’ll tell you all about it over some beer?"

MORE ABOUT MIGRATION BREWING:

"On a sunny day in the Fall of 2008, we found ourselves sharing beers and engrossed in a conversation that began about starting a business but quickly delved into personal values and visions of the future. The four of us quickly realized that we shared more than a passion for great beer; we shared a value set about life and the role that beer plays in it. A dream was born and the wheels were set in motion to open our flagship Glisan Street brewpub in early 2010.

The days were long and the sleep was short but year after the year our business grew through hard work and relationships. Migration endeared itself to the local community through fundraisers, events and tireless self-distribution of draft kegs. In the Spring of 2017 we signed with the largest beverage distributor on the west coast and the next chapter of the business began when we opened our 20,000sf Gresham production facility in 2018. Since then, the company has become one of the fastest growing breweries in Oregon with distribution in Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Idaho, Hong Kong, and Japan.

We believe that every beer we make has the power to ignite a conversation. To bring an idea to life. To bring people together. We invite you to share in our values of community, chasing dreams and passion for great beer!"

Our Cidery Of The Week presented by Day One Distribution is with Yonder Cider! All week long, we will be pouring two kegs of Yonder Cider in the bar. Come by for your chance to try some of the best cider made here in the PNW!

And if you want to try anything else they offer, come into the bottle shop on Tuesday for a very special can tasting. While you are here, grab some cans to take home and share with your friends! Yonder Cider is just likely to become your new favorite cidery!

MORE ABOUT YONDER CIDER:

"Cidermaking is a playground of the pretty and the ugly, the bitter and the sweet: It’s never a one-note song when done well. Our apples reflect the striking, complex terroir of Washington’s apple country — from juicy dessert fruit to biting, spirited cider varieties. Simply put, apples contain contradictions. And it’s when we follow their every wild and quiet possibility, and seek out juxtapositions of flavor, that we find our most delicious end result.

We make cider that’s as interesting as the land it comes from. Our apples grow in a rugged, sun-drenched, windblown Yonder — Wenatchee Valley, the heart of America’s apple country. With soil seasoned by glaciers and orchards sheltered by rocky bluffs, it’s an otherworldly place that produces the best fruit we know of. We hope you like the bright and bold tastes of this special landscape — and that you enjoy a Yonder anywhere there’s a friendly face."
