Von Ebert Presents: The Return Of Volleyball Soupdance!

It's the return of Volleyball Soupdance here at Belmont Station!

Our good friends at Von Ebert asked us if we wanted another round of this Belmont Station exclusive IPA that has become a staff and customer favorite over the last couple years.

Brewed originally for our 25th anniversary in 2022, where it was a draft only exclusive. Then the following year, Von Ebert put this magical IPA into cans for us. And since then, the people have exclaimed "We Want More Soupdance!"

So we are doing it again! This time only in draft however, and Belmont Station is your place to have this one off IPA brewed by the expert team at Von Ebert with the help of Belmont Station!

The name and flavor profile come from a play on our absolute favorite IPA, Volatile Substance. Von Ebert took that classic recipe and tweaked it ever so slightly. And during Covid, when everyone had masks on, sometimes the name Volatile Substance would be muffled to sound like "Volleyball Soupdance"

Alongside Volleyball, we will be featuring the rest of the "Substance" family on draft including the ever intriguing Saturated Substance!

Volleyball Soupdance will be on our draft list for a little while, but the kegs are very limited, so make sure you get one ASAP!

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Von Ebert Volleyball Soupdance - West Coast IPA brewed in collaboration with Belmont Station

Von Ebert Volatile Substance - Award winning, and everyone's favorite West Coast IPA

Von Ebert Saturated Substance - Uber dank West Coast IPA

Von Ebert Clubhaus Lager - Award winning lager

Bottle Shop Tasting: Stone Circle Cider!

Join us Wednesday for a very special tasting in the bottle shop featuring Stone Circle Cider! Stone Circle Cider is based just outside of Portland in Estacada, Oregon. They produce traditional English style ciders with some of the best ingredients found in the Pacific Northwest. As they say, you can't make great wine with table grapes and the same goes for ciders. That's why they use a blend of English bittersweet apples with American heirloom apples in all of their ciders.

During the Holiday Season, Stone Circle makes a very special spiced mulled cider. This cider is hot, sweet, spicy, and boozy. It's everything a winter drink should be. They take their dry cider and infuse cinnamon, ginger, whole cloves, star of anise, and lemon juice. All you need to do is add brown sugar and serve warm for the perfect addition to any holiday celebration. We will be doing the leg work on this night by serving this very special drink in the bar for you! Come warm your hands with a glass of it and see for yourself what the Holidays in a glass is all about!

In the bottle shop, Stone Circle will be tasting out the rest of their ciders for free. You can then purchase cans to take home with you as well as a jug of the mulled cider to make at home if you would like!

In addition, we will be pouring the mulled cider through the holidays as a special bonus for those who want to brave the weather and warm up!

AVAILABLE TO TRY IN THE BOTTLE SHOP:

Stone Circle Farmhouse Dry

Stone Circle Farmhouse Raspberry

Stone Circle Blackberry Pear

Wild Ride Brew Co. Presents: A Very Nut Crushing Experience!

We love beer and we love peanut butter! Wild Ride scratches both of those itches with Nut Crusher Peanut Butter Porter! But they didn't stop at just the year round version we all know and love. They have decided to create some very exclusive variants of this award winning liquid peanut butter cup beer. And Belmont Station is your place to try all four of them! These are one of a kind kegs not found anywhere else! These beers start out with notes of caramel and chocolate that you tend to get from Porters, but then comes the complement of creamy peanut butter flavor. From there, these variants keep you guessing and coming back for more. Who knew these beers can get even better!?

Come grab a flight and dig into these decadent, luscious and rich porters with us!

AVAILABLE ON DRAFT:

Wild Ride NITRO Nut Crusher - Peanut butter porter on nitro

Wild Ride PB & J Nut Crusher - Peanut butter porter with grape jam

Wild Ride Scorched Nut Crusher - Peanut butter porter with habanero

Wild Ride Gone Breakfast Nut Crusher - Peanut butter porter with maple and bacon

MORE ABOUT WILD RIDE:

"Our Wild Ride began when the idea of creating an awesome brewery came alive. A group of lifelong friends, who grew up in Redmond, started plotting the course. With no professional brewer on the team, priority one was finding the right team to create the brews. Through the ups and downs and twists and turns, we met many interesting and special people along the way. Our brewers have been brewing award-winning beers since the beginning and continue to craft innovative and fun styles!

Another important chapter to our story included finding the perfect location. In 2013, we found just that in an old lumber storage building in downtown Redmond. And that’s when this Wild Ride really took off! The building had four walls, concrete floors, garage doors and a tall ceiling, which was all we needed. We then created a plan to add everything else, beginning with running water (some of the best in the Pacific NW). We are thrilled to have found this location in our hometown, and there is no other place we would rather call home for our brewery."

MORE ABOUT STEEPLEJACK BREWING:

"There’s a reverence that comes with being a Steeplejack. A belief that an inanimate thing can have life. A desire to work with your hands to make things better than they were before. Hopewell Brewing "Meet The Team"!

Coming in all the way from Chicago Illinois is Hopewell Brewing Company!

The whole team will be in house next Tuesday for a meet and greet and general beer drinking fun!

This is the first time we have had them at Belmont Station and so we are covering our draft list in their beer and stocking our bottle shop shelves!

Hopewell is known for their clean and masterfully brewed beers. And as they recently started distributing to Portland, they are becoming a fan favorite amongst staff and our customers.

Their "little lager" known as Lil Buddy is an eye catching and great tasting crushable lager that is easily becoming a go-to!

MORE ABOUT HOPEWELL:

"We’re a small team led by founders Samantha Lee, Stephen Bossu and Jonathan Fritz. The team is comprised of folks from all sorts of backgrounds, including nonprofit advocacy work, large production brewing and organic food sales — all of which inform our approach to running a brewery that not only makes high-quality, accessible beer, but is welcoming to all and provides a rewarding work environment for our employees.

All originally from Chicago, founders Samantha, Stephen and Jonathan met while attending the University of Illinois in Champaign. This was in the early 2000s, while the American craft beer scene was relatively nascent, but beginning to swell beyond its more humble status. Like many founding stories go, all three got into flavorful beer and began home brewing together (with admittedly mixed results). But it wasn’t until after graduation and a long road trip out West touring the region’s many breweries that their bond strengthened and a grand plan emerged: Open a brewery of their own.

And like many more founding stories go, the path was long and arduous.

Samantha and Stephen both moved to Portland, Oregon and then Brooklyn, where Samantha worked for nonprofits, and Stephen for a couple production breweries. Jonathan entered the world of food sales and had a stint in Philly before coming back home to Chicago. Along the way, the three worked on their vision of a brewery. After eight years of planning, Hopewell opened in Chicago in 2016 — and here we are today!

Since opening, we have grown the team with a group of dedicated folks who are instrumental to the ongoing success of Hopewell. With our team, we hope to build a business that centers people over profits and community over individual gain."

AVAILBLE ON DRAFT :

Hopewell Pils - Pilsner

Hopewell Ride Or Die - Pale ale

Hopewell Going Places - Bright IPA

Hopewell Lightbeam - Hazy IPA

Grains Of Wrath Enemy Of Average - IPA brewed in collaboration with Boneyard

Grains Of Wrath Sunbather - Summer ale

Grains Of Wrath Spirit Creature - Barrel aged imperial stout brewed in collaboration with Fort George

MORE ABOUT GRAINS OF WRATH:

"Spawned from good ol’ fashioned working-human punk rock, our great moody PNW home and anyone desirous of a brew that flies true and unrelenting in the face of boring, our culture is simple: making damn good beer with the best people we can find, for our community to not just enjoy, but thrive.

Trends may come and go, though by focusing on beers built decidedly from the grain up to inspire our community just as much as they inspire us, we’ve been able to do some great things together, and keep at it for the long haul."

Bottle Shop Tasting: Sierra Nevada!

AVAILBLE TO TRY IN THE BOTTLE SHOP:

Sierra Nevada Pils - Pilsner

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - Legendary Pale Ale

Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest - Festbier brewed in collaboration with Stortebeker

Sierra Nevada Barrel Aged Narwhal - Bourbon barrel aged imperial stout

MORE ABOUT SIERRA NEVADA:

"Ken Grossman, founder of Sierra Nevada, made a habit of chasing curiosity. His early years of backyard tinkering and covert science projects set the stage for the ultimate discovery: homebrewing.

Fascinated by the alchemy of fermentation, Ken opened The Home Brew Shop in Chico, slowly playing with more hop-forward flavors at a time when American beer wasn’t known for taking chances.

When he finally started a brewery, Ken scoured salvage yards and defunct dairies to find the tanks, pipes, and valves he needed to hand-build Sierra Nevada’s original brewhouse.

On November 15, 1980, he put his first batch of craft beer to the test. That heady stout was a 13-hour labor of love, and after one sip, he knew he had a keeper. The Pale Ale that followed sparked a true craft beer revolution. The adventure’s never stopped, and our curiosity’s still brewing."

MORE ABOUT RECLUSE BREW WORKS:

"At RBW we tend to focus on Lagers, but we are intensely focused on perfecting every brew whether it’s a new Pilsner or an IPA. Which is why you might not see us out and about that much. You’ll find us in a factory a little off the beaten path. We aren’t hiding, we’re just busy pouring our heart into our craft and making something delightful for you."

MORE ABOUT SWIFT CIDER:

"In 2015, Swift Cider was born in a sublet corner of a wild mushroom distribution warehouse in Portland, Oregon. Founded with limited funds and a massive passion for fermentation, Aidan and Jeremy set out to share craft cider with the world.

Named after Portland’s favorite bird, the company honors diversity by making ciders for the whole flock. Swift has grown from a garage-sized operation to an award-winning craft cidery with the love and support of the local community. We pay it back with incredible flavor and artful fermentation.

The story of Swift is about dedication to the craft of cider making, being scrappy, and never giving up. Over the years, we’ve built our own equipment, pioneered whole fruit cider making, saved heirloom apples, won awards, and supported a growing family of non-profits, artists, musicians, and even the little birds we’re named after! We’ve also stayed late, pinched pennies, worked unpaid, pivoted, rebranded, and wondered if it would all work out. Only true passion lasts this long."

HELP SAVE BELMONT STATION'S COVERED SEATING AREA!

The city of Portland is requiring Belmont Station to remove the overhead structure over our sidewalk café space in front of our building. This cover, which allows for several extra seats for our customers has protected beer lovers from the elements for more than five years!

Additionally, unlike umbrellas, the structure has allowed Belmont Station to maintain outdoor seating for all but the coldest and wettest days of the year, giving our customers more space and helping us keep the lights on during these uncertain times for the service industry.

Estimated cost to tear down the structure is about $1500 with yet-unknown additional cost for procuring alternative yet inferior coverings for or sidewalk café seats. That's a lot of pints.

We are asking the City to reconsider their decision to tear down our overhead structure and would like to present officials with a petition signed by our customers and vendors requesting it be saved. Please sign the petition in either the bar or the bottle shop if you want to Save The Structure! We will be presenting these documents during our meeting with the City in a couple of weeks.

Thank you to each of you that make Belmont Station truly Portland's Place To Be(ER) since 1997!

We spend most of the year curating a draft list of beers that are extremely rare, one off's and all around hard to find.

Sour beers have a very special place in our hearts and we know you love them too. This year is our 17th year hosting Puckerfest!

Cheers to many more to come!

Bottle Shop Tasting: Wild Ride Brewing!

Wild Ride Brewing became an idea in 2011. But the beer wasn't flowing until 2014 in Redmond Oregon. Since then, they have produced some award winning beers that include some very unique and inventive styles.

Join us and Wild Ride tomorrow in the bottle shop and you see for yourself what makes them so great.

MORE ABOUT WILD RIDE BREWING:

AVAILABLE TO TRY IN THE BOTTLE SHOP:

Wild Ride Dashboard Dreams - IPA

Wild Ride Cold Chillin' - Vanilla cream ale

Wild Ride Whoopty Whoop - Hefeweizen

Wild Ride Nut Crusher - Peanut butter porter

Wild Ride Toes In The Water - West Coast pilsner
