The city of Portland is requiring Belmont Station to remove the overhead structure over our sidewalk café space in front of our building. This cover, which allows for several extra seats for our customers has protected beer lovers from the elements for more than five years!
Additionally, unlike umbrellas, the structure has allowed Belmont Station to maintain outdoor seating for all but the coldest and wettest days of the year, giving our customers more space and helping us keep the lights on during these uncertain times for the service industry.
Estimated cost to tear down the structure is about $1500 with yet-unknown additional cost for procuring alternative yet inferior coverings for or sidewalk café seats. That's a lot of pints.
We are asking the City to reconsider their decision to tear down our overhead structure and would like to present officials with a petition signed by our customers and vendors requesting it be saved. Please sign the petition in either the bar or the bottle shop if you want to Save The Structure! We will be presenting these documents during our meeting with the City in a couple of weeks.
Thank you to each of you that make Belmont Station truly Portland's Place To Be(ER) since 1997!
