We Are Moving! (finally)

December 11, 2006
For Immediate Release

We Are Moving!
Belmont Station is relocating just 3 blocks away to
4500 S.E. Stark St Portland, OR 97215
January 4, 2007

After grueling months of waiting on City Hall, construction is complete. On the first week of the New Year we'll be pleased to welcome you to a new, expanded and updated Belmont Station. What's going to be different?

THE STATION CAFE! The new Belmont Station is two spaces in one. On one side, a bottleshop. On the other, a great little bier cafe. On the menu: any of our bottled beers, plus a few very special beers on draught. It will be a comfortable, neighborhood place to while away the hours tasting the best beers on the planet. We will feature soups, sandwiches, and cheese plates for your nibbling enjoyment.

MORE SPACE MEANS MORE BEER! Lots more space! Our beer selection is just shy of 700, but we're looking to increase our selection to around 900!

SELF-SERVE COOLERS! No more waiting while we fetch your bottles. Our knowledgeable staff will continue to assist you with your selection and any questions you may have. We'll have UV protection on the cooler lights to prevent skunky beer, and we'll be religiously rotating and stocking as usual. Belmont Station will continue to be the place for the freshest beer in town.

That is really exciting! Congratulations!

What will be on tap first?

It would be cool if you could do some homebrewing events there, too, though perhaps that is antithetical to the whole bottle shop thing ...perhaps taste a few homebrewers' IPAs vs. local brewers. Could be interesting. Or terrible and bad for business. Either way.

I can't comment on what will be first, but I can say this:

1. Nothing we sell in a bottle will be on tap because, really, what's the point? This is not to say that we won't bust out a keg of Anchor Christmas in mid-summer, you just won't find it on tap during the winter.

2. We WILL have as many different "non-bottled" beers as possible from great breweries like Walking Man, Ninkasi, BJ's and others.

3. Along those same lines, we'll be working with various breweries to create custom beers just for us. Beers designed and brewed by beer geeks, for beer geeks.

Stay tuned for more ;)

Very Cool!

What's parking like in the NEW area??

At this point its all on-street parking, but there's no other businesses in the area so there shouldn't be any problems.

We're also working with the church across the street to find a suitable arrangement that would allow our customers to park in their lot in the evenings.

Congratulations! I know this has been a drawn-out process, but projects like this always seem to do that. I think the new concept is terrific and the new location looks great. I just hope the changes can make up for the loss of spillage from the Horse Brass: lots of people have wandered over in search of some of the same goodness they've been drinking at the pub--along with a brisk trade in cigarettes, of course.

is it going to be non-smoking? That would rock, that's the reason i've been to the brass once in the last year and gone to concordia about every weekend.

That's awesome! Might not make opening night, but will definitely swing by shortly thereafter. Congrats.
