Quick Reminder - Rose and Raindrop Closing
T-minus 23 days until the Rose and Raindrop pulls its last pint. The clock is ticking, so if you haven't yet had a chance to pay your respects (and enjoy their fine cask ales) get on down there and show them some love.

Hehe, last time I went to Rose and Raindrop the waiter told me not to order their cask beers cause their system had gone bad and all the beers were spoiled. I was like, you are known for your cask beers and wont sell them, this place is in trouble. So sad to see it go.

Actually, derek, you highlighted one of the great things about the Raindrop. The server refused to sell bad beer. At other similar places -- which will remain nameless -- they would have sold you that spoiled pint.
I suspect maybe the economics associated with serving ONLY fresh beer caused them trouble. It is a shame, because now there is not a single pub in Portland that you can go to and KNOW you will get a fresh, un-oxidized pint.
Just had to clarify. I know of several places with cask, most of which I think do a very good job. They are off the top of my head: Bridgeport Brewery, Laurelwood Brewery, Moon & Sixpence, Lucky Lab on Hawthorne, Higgins Bar, Horse Brass, Pilsner Room. I know there are a few more, but they are more inconsistent in my mind. Cheers
